Psychomania 1973 ***

Also known as The Death Wheelers, Psychomania was a rare foray into investigating the dangerous cult of frog worshipping. While Mrs Lathan (Beryl Reid) and butler Shadwell (George Sanders) dodder around a stately home, their son Tom (Nicky Henson) gets embroiled with a group of bikers who have discovered the secret of eternal life; by committing suicide, they can return as immortal. This odd conceit is impressively visualized as one character is buried on his bike, only to burst out of the grave a la Meatloaf at full throttle. Don Sharp’s film is as weird and wonderful as it sounds, exploring with glee the proposition that you can only die once.
